The media is a powerful lobbying tool, particularly when educating the public and building support for controversial issues. How you manage the media, and how the media portrays you, can have serious implications in public and political circles. The Palmetto Policy Group employs both paid media advertising and media relations on behalf of its clients. A strategically-placed newspaper ad, an issue-oriented television spot run at a critical point in a debate, or direct marketing can create the momentum needed to change votes and redirect a piece of legislation in a client's favor.
Media relations involves working with both the editorial and news staff of newspapers, radio and television stations, and requires a higher degree of expertise and finesse to succeed. Unlike paid media, we do not have control over what is printed or broadcast. We do, however, have control over the message. We work with clients on formatting the message, delivering that message to the media, and ensuring that it is communicated consistently and accurately. This includes crisis communications. The Palmetto Policy Group can serve as the client's spokesperson or aid your company's spokespeople. In either case, we will assist in the strategy development, messaging, media and public speaking preparation, interviews and following up with legislators.
